Queen of the Morning Calm wins three awards at Canadian Film Fest

A documentary about a man’s search for a wife and a feature film about a Toronto sex worker and her daughter were the big winners of the 2020 Canadian Film Fest.

Steve Markle’s “Shoot to Marry” won Best Feature in the 14th edition of the festival, which moved from in-person screenings to airing on Super Channel Fuse between May 21 and June 6 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Gloria Ui Young Kim’s “Queen of the Morning Calm” won the William F. White Reel Canadian Indie award, as well as Best Director for Kim and Best Breakout Performance for Eponine Lee, which she shared with Maya Harman for “Chubby.”
